You believe a site was incorrectly categorized (suggest a rating change)

Symptom

A website is blocked/allowed due to a rating that you feel is incorrect.

Solution

If you believe a site is incorrectly categorized, you can notify Blue Coat Content Control. To do so:

Launch K9 from your Start menu, click Get Help, and click Check/Dispute Category. Alternatively, you can use the form on our website at http://k9.symantec.com/support/check-site-rating

Enter the URL of the web site in question and click Submit. Please Note: Some websites, such as YouTube.com are considered high-profile URLs which are rated correctly and will not be rated differently, thus it cannot be submitted via rating dispute page.

After you submit the URL, you will be given the current categorization of the site, as well as a form you can complete to request a category change.

Please be very specific in your description as to why the URL should be rated differently. Our ratings team is usually able to review your submission within 48 hours, and will email you back with the decision if you choose to provide an email address.
In addition, you can configure K9 to allow or block the incorrectly categorized site immediately by adding an Exception. To do so:

  1. Launch K9 from your Start menu, click Setup, and login with your administrative password.
  2. Once you have logged in, click Web Site Exceptions in the left column.
  3. Type the site's URL in the Sites to Always Block text area and click Add. Repeat this procedure for each URL you want blocked.
  4. Click the Save Changes button to save all URLs entered.
