You have questions about installing K9 Web Protection.

Solution

Windows:

1. Download the K9 Web Protection installer from our download page (https://k9.symantec.com/getk9/download-software).
2. Select [Save File].
3. Locate the K9 installer once it has completed downloading. The default location should be C:\Users\<YourUserProfile>\Downloads\
4. Double-click the installer (k9-webprotection.exe) to begin the installation wizard.
5. When prompted “Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer?” select [Yes].
6. You should now see the “Blue Coat K9 Web Protection Setup” wizard. Select [Next] to continue.
7. Review the License Agreement and select [I Agree] to continue.
8. Enter your K9 license and create your K9 administrator password. If you do not have a license, please visit our License Request page and fill out the request form (https://k9.symantec.com/get-k9-web-protection-free). If you are purchasing K9 for your organization, be sure to select the option “Get K9 for your organization”.
9. Select [Install].
10. After the installation is complete, please select the option “Reboot Now” and click [Finish].

Mac OSX:

1. Download the K9 Web Protection installer from our download page (https://k9.symantec.com/getk9/download-software).
2. Select [Save File].
3. Locate the "k9-webprotection.dmg" file once it has completed downloading and open it
4. Now open the ".pkg" file to begin the Installation wizard.
5. Agree to the Terms of Use.
6. Enter your Mac Administrator password if prompted to allow K9 to be installed.
7. Enter your K9 license and a K9 administrator password of your choosing and select [Install].
8. When finished installing, please reboot your computer to ensure K9 is started properly.
