Solution

There are two components that make K9 work; first the ratings database and Dynamic Real-Time Rating system (DRTR) maintained by Blue Coat, and second, the K9 program or “client” which is installed on your computer.

Our ratings database and DRTR system are constantly being updated to provide you with the most accurate, up-to-date protection available. For increased convenience and speed, this massive database is not stored on your computer. Rather K9 queries this database which is updated approximately 100 times per day.

Updates to the K9 client program can be released at any time, but usually happen every 6-9 months. If you want to be sure you are running the latest version of K9, feel free to download it from the following website:

Simply run the installer and follow the prompts (which may ask you to reboot your computer) to complete the update process
